RSS feed validator

Check that your RSS feed is correct and works in every RSS reader.

This site is protected by reCAPTCHA and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.

What does the RSS validator check?

The validator checks that the feed is valid XML, that the channel has a title, link and description, that each item has a title, link and unique id, and that dates follow the RFC 822 standard.

Common RSS feed errors

The most common errors are wrong date formats, characters not encoded as UTF-8, unescaped special characters such as & and a missing atom:link with rel="self". The validator shows exactly where the error is.

RSS questions

Why validate my RSS feed?

A broken RSS feed can stop working in readers and news services. Validation finds the errors before your readers do.

Do you validate Atom and JSON Feed too?

Yes, the validator checks RSS 2.0, Atom and JSON Feed.

Why do Google News or podcast apps reject my feed?

Often because of wrong dates or invalid XML. Run the feed through the validator and fix the errors it shows.
