What is an RSS feed?
An RSS feed is a list of the latest content on a website in a format that apps can read. Each entry has a title, link, date and often a summary and an image.
Common types of RSS feeds
RSS feeds are used for far more than news:
- News sites and newspapers
- Blogs and newsletters
- Podcasts (every podcast is built on RSS)
- YouTube channels and playlists
- Job ads and tenders
- Press releases and government news
How to find the RSS feed of a website
Many sites show an orange RSS icon, but the address is often hidden in the page source. Paste the website address into our free tool and we find every RSS feed it has.
How to read RSS feeds
An RSS reader collects all your feeds in one place. You can also read a single RSS feed right in your browser with our online RSS reader.
Formats: RSS 2.0, Atom and JSON Feed
RSS 2.0 is the most common. Atom is a newer, stricter format and JSON Feed suits developers. RSS APP reads all three and can export your feed in every format. Check that a feed is correct with our RSS validator.
Create RSS feeds for sites that have none
If a website has no RSS feed, RSS APP creates one by reading its articles. You can filter by keyword so only what interests you is included.
Show RSS feeds on your website
With an RSS widget you show one or more RSS feeds on your website. You choose the look yourself and paste one line of code.
