Why embed an RSS feed?
An RSS feed on your site keeps it fresh with new content without you updating it yourself. Common examples are industry news, your latest blog posts, press releases, job ads and new videos from a YouTube channel.
How to embed RSS with a widget
The easiest way to embed RSS is with an RSS widget:
- Create a free RSS APP account.
- Paste the address of the website or RSS feed you want to show.
- Create a widget and choose layout, colours, number of items and whether to show images and dates.
- Copy the code and paste it into your website.
The code you paste
The code is two lines. Changes you make to the widget show up right away; you never need to replace the code.
<div data-rssapp-widget="YOUR-CODE"></div>
<script src="https://rssapp.se/widget.js" async></script>
Embed RSS in WordPress
Open the page or post in the editor, add a "Custom HTML" block and paste the code. To show the feed in a sidebar, add the HTML block under Appearance → Widgets. A dedicated WordPress plugin is coming later.
Embed RSS in Wix, Squarespace, Webflow and Shopify
Every major site builder has a block for custom code. In Wix it is "Embed HTML", in Squarespace "Code", in Webflow "Embed" and in Shopify a custom HTML section. Paste the code where the widget should appear.
Will it slow down my site?
No. The widget is small, only loads when it scrolls into view and renders in its own isolated part of the page so your design is not affected. It sets no cookies, so you do not need to change your cookie banner.
No RSS feed? Create one
If the website you want to show has no RSS feed of its own, RSS APP creates one by reading its articles. Then embed it the same way.
